Environmental policy

The PRONEXUS Group strongly recognizes that responding to climate change and environmental issues is an important management issue.
Based on the framework of the Paris Agreement and the Japanese government’s declaration to aim for a target of achieving carbon neutrality, or net-zero greenhouse gas emissions, by 2050, we understand the role that companies must play in order to create a sustainable society, and we believe that achieving solutions to this challenge through our business activities will lead to the sustainable growth of the Group.

The Sustainability Committee oversees the management and operation of initiatives based on the following environmental policy.

1. Based on our own environmental policy, the Group will set environmental goals and targets, and will periodically review and continuously improve them.
   We will identify the environmental aspects of our business activities and work to reduce the negative impact on the environment, particularly as follows.
   1）In order to mitigate climate change, we will achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 by minimizing energy use in our business activities and promoting the transition to renewable energy.
   2）We will strive to reduce the environmental impact of our products throughout their entire life cycle.
   3）We will understand the environmental impact of our business activities and strive to prevent environmental pollution.
   4） In order to use resources sustainably, we will strive to make effective use of resources, reduce waste, recycle, and properly manage chemical substances
   5）We recognize that the nature of our business involves the use of forest resources and will work to protect forest resources.
2. We will build and develop a system for environmentally friendly manufacturing.
3. We will disclose information about these activities as appropriate and strive to actively communicate with stakeholders.
4. We will ensure that all of our officers and employees are aware of our environmental policy in order to comply with environmental laws and regulations in all countries and regions where the Group conducts business activities and the principles that we have accepted, and to achieve positive results.
   Furthermore, we will make our environmental policy public through the Company’s website.

In order to achieve the above, we will establish an environmental management system, operate the system based on set goals and targets, and strive to make continuous improvements.

We have established an environmental philosophy and environmental policy, and are promoting environmental conservation activities based on these.

The Toda Factory continually maintains its environmental management system certification and holds meetings of the Environment Committee, made up of the people responsible for environmental management. The factory also strives to reduce emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and resolve various issues that arise in its production processes.PRONEXUS endeavors to reduce and recycle core materials, including paper and printing ink as well as developing solutions and cleaning agents, and has maintained nearly 100% (over 99%) zero-emission rates (recycling rates) since factory operations began in 2010.Paper trimmings generated in the printing process are collected and compacted in a collector for recycling.For organic solvents, we conduct risk assessments in line with revisions to the Industrial Safety and Health Act and notify employees of the risks and preventive measures as part of employee health management and to maintain a good work environment.

In addition, we actively introduce environmentally friendly products, and have continued with certification under the FSC® forest certification system* and recommend the use of FSC®-certified paper to our clients.For printing ink, we give priority to the use of vegetable oil-derived environmentally friendly inks and continually look to reduce VOCs through the use of non-VOC UV inks.

To save energy, we have introduced electricity monitoring software to visualize electricity used and control electricity usage.When equipment has been stopped or is on standby, we ensure that power is shut off at the source. We are thorough about turning off lights not in use and reducing the number of lighting fixtures and are also improving efficiency by reviewing the way our equipment is operated.
